We are Kevin and Rachelle Webster from Portland, Oregon. In February 2014 we quit our jobs, sold our stuff and began to travel, with the hope of living a better story. This is the tale of our adventure.

In 2010, with the help of Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University, we became debt free! Kevin was working as a senior developer and Rachelle was working as an event planner. As we successfully climbed up the corporate ladder, we were saving up to buy our first home. We loved our jobs and the people we worked with, but we were stressed, tired and we worked too much. As a result of all that stress our marriage was suffering.
We began talking of a vacation. We had never been to Europe before and thought a long adventure would be just the ticket to refresh us. However, after giving it more thought, we realized that we weren't happy with the direction our life was headed and once we returned from a vacation, we would be in the same place facing the same problems. We realized we had lost sight of what was truly important: our relationship with each other, our relationship with God and our relationships with our friends and family.
Kevin hatched the idea to take the money we had saved, quit our jobs and backpack through Europe for one year. We both loved to travel, but Rachelle was apprehensive. We were living a very comfortable life. We have a little rescue dog named Apollo. Leaving him would be too difficult. He is part of our family and we couldn't imagine living without him. We lived in a fantastic city with excellent jobs and a close-knit community of friends. We volunteered at church and were hooked on Netflix. If we were gone, we would miss out on birthdays, wedding and celebrating holidays with families.
The list went on. It was impossible, we couldn't do it.

However, after a lot of discussion, we realized we needed a big change. Life is short and there is more to life than big houses and following the typical American dream. Although we would miss out on friend and family events throughout the year, we knew putting our relationship first and prioritizing our life was what needed to be done. So the decision was made to backpack around Europe for one year with the goal of getting out of our comfort zone and living a better story. This website is the story of our new story.
